Temporary Visas

Student Visas

F-1 Visa
This is the most common form of student visa. This visa allows individuals to further their studies in a U.S. approved school. Through this visa an individual may also bring his or her spouse and children with them through an F-2 visa.
M-1 Visa
This visa is also available for individuals who want to pursue a vocational career in an approved U.S. school such as a Community College. Through this visa an individual may also bring his or her spouse and children with them through an M-2 visa.
J-1 Visa
This is an exchange program type of visa which allows for students and teachers or other trainers to come to the U.S. on an exchange basis. This visa is more appropriately classified as a visitors visa. Your spouse and unmarried children may also apply under this program.

Work Visas

H-1B Visa
This visa is a first step in becoming permanent in the U.S. An individual must posses at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. The spouse and unmarried children under 21 may join the petitioner. This is not a self sponsoring visa and requires a sponsoring employer.
H-2A Visa
This is an agricultural visa specifically tailored for such employment and like the H-1B it requires that an employer petition for the employee. The spouse and unmarried children under 21 may join the petitioner.
L-1 Visa
This visa is used by companies that have offices both in a foreign country and the U.S. An executive or manager may be transferred to the U.S. quarters of the company along with his spouse and unmarried children.
O-1 Visa
This type of visa is used for extraordinary individuals in the arts, science, athletics, education or television industry. It allows a U.S. employer to petition for one of these individuals.

Visitor Visas

B-1 Visa
This type of visa allows an individual to come and explore the business possibilities in the U.S.
B-2 Visa
This is basically a tourist visa. It is intended for pleasure.
E-1 Visa
This is an investors visa. It requires that the country from which the person applying is be a country that has a treaty with the U.S.
E-2 Visa
This is another form of the E-1 visa with some minor differences.

Other Visas

K-1 Visa
This visa allows a person to come to the U.S. to marry an American citizen.

Permanent Visas

Employment-Based

EB-1 Visa
This option is opened to individuals with extraordinary capacity in the science, arts, athletics, education or business.
EB-2 Visa
This is basically the same as EB-1 except that it applies to individuals with advanced degrees or an M.D.

Family-Based

A U.S. Citizen may petition for his wife through an I-130 or future wife or husband through the K-1 fiancé visa.

Individuals who have had asylum or refugee status for one year may apply for permanent residence.
